Graduated as Civil Engineer in 1980. Started to deal with stone in Colombia where he grew up. First working at Granitos y Marmoles as a plant manager on the slab line, resident installer at large jobs and traveling around the country looking for quarries. After his MBA at Bentley College, Waltham, he started to work as polisher at Louis W. Mian in Charleston. He progressed into scheduling, template and installing counters and finally supervisor of the whole operation under the direction of the owners. In 1990, he started Marble and Granite, Inc. He met Paul Cocciardi who was working at United Marble Fabricators in Watertown and Gian Luca asked him to join the new company. They started selling tiles from a public warehouse in East Boston, Paul would make the sale and Gian Luca would procure the material, deliver, invoice and collect. From then, they move to a warehouse in Newton to receive the first container in 1992 and they continue to wholesale stones. Paul in charge of sales, Gian Luca in charge of purchasing and the rest. Now days, Gian Luca continues to manage the business and Paul is taking the responsibility to purchase materials and continue to sell products.
Jonathan Verrengia started working for Marble and Granite, Inc, March 2003 where he began as a customer service/inside sales representative. Within the first few years, he assisted the owners in managing the sales team and was later promoted to sales manager. Since then, Jonathan has become a Marble Institute of America (MIA) certified instructor to teach classes on natural stone and quartz to architects and designers seeking continuing education units (CEU). Prior to his employment at M&G, Jonathan was an educator and coach for five years. He spent 4 years teaching health and physical education in Everett and coached football and boy’s tennis before heading to Arlington to teach elementary physical education for one year. Jonathan graduated from Salem State College with a B.S. and was pursuing a career in school counseling when he left the education field to try a new endeavor in sales. When Jonathan is not working he enjoys spending time with his wife and 3 daughters, golfing, reading and watching pretty much any sport.
Paul Cocciardi, co founder of Marble and Granite, Inc. has 25 years experience in the stone business. Since 1985 he has worked in all facets of the business, including fabrication and distribution. From 1985-1990 he had worked for Imported Stone in stone sales distribution and United Marble Fabricators in sales of stone fabrication. In 1990 , Paul joined with Gian Luca Fiori to create Marble and Granite Inc.. Currently Paul continues to sell stone products and travels searching for new stones and stone products to bring to the market. Paul holds a BS in Management with a concentration in Marketing From Keene State College.
Scott Posnick has been working in the Finance and Accounting field for more than 25 years. His experience has been focused on working with business managers and owners as a business partner, improving operating efficiency and in turn customer satisfaction. Over his career, Scott has worked with companies ranging from Venture Capital and Angel funded start ups, to established distribution, manufacturing and service businesses. He has been working with Marble and Granite since 2004 and joined the company full time in 2009. Scott graduated from Babson College as an accounting major and later attended Suffolk University at night to earn his MBA. He lives in Sharon with his wife and, depending on the time of year, with his college age children. When not working he enjoys an occasional round of golf with friends, a good book, the Patriots and travel.
Tim Palsson is the Operations Manager at Marble and Granite Inc. He has been in the Logistics industry for 25 years in various capacities such as a driver, business owner and Terminal Manager. His experience has been focused on distribution, trucking and safety. He works closely with the Marble Institute of America and OSHA to promote safety in the stone industry. Tim is a graduate of Purdue University and lives on the South Shore with his son. He holds a commercial pilots license and is an avid hunter, musician and when not at work, he can almost always be found cooking in his kitchen.
