History & Timelines

Marble and Granite Inc has had a colourful yet solid history.

1990:   

Marble and Granite is founded, offering 10 colors of tiles in a 6th floor warehouse in East Boston.

1991:   

Increased Volume of sales necessitated move to larger Newton location and the line was expanded to include marble and granite slabs.

1992:   

The accountant and warehouse manager were added to the team, and the first delivery truck was purchased.

1993:   

Was a profitable year and a second truck was purchased.

1995:   

Sales reach the 5 million dollar mark.

1996:   

The first boom truck is purchased.

2000:   

We had outgrown our Newton location,therefore moving to a 70,000 square foot indoor warehouse and showroom in Westwood, Mass.

2001:   

Chosen as the New England distributor for the CaeserStone quartz product line.

2002:   

With increase in sales came the demand to maintain the growth and a sales representative was added for Connecticut.

2003:   

Fabrication tools and supplies were added as a new product line.

2004:   

Inventory control and web based purchasing computer system implemented to efficiently accommodate our growing business, A sales representative was added for the Maine territory.

2005:   

A Management team was positioned to accommodate the ever growing company, consisting of 55 employees and 14 delivery trucks. These managers now represent divisions of: Finance, Accounting, Operations, Sales and Marketing. A 30,000 square foot warehouse and an additional salesperson was placed in Connecticut to accommodate this growth. Also, we added a full time sales person to the Albany, NY market.

2006:   

Four sales and marketing reps were added to service kitchen bath dealers and promote CaesarStone; 2 in MA and 2 in CT. Introduction of the Katz Nutz line of fabrication supplies.

2007:   

Completed the management team by adding a Human Resource manager and a Connecticut Sales Manager.

2008:   

Added 2 more sales and marketing reps for the kitchen & bath segment; 1 in Maine and 1 in Albany, NY.

2010:   

Launched our B2B website and our Find a Fabricator directory – online sales reach over $1 million the first year, Celebrated our 20 year company anniversary

2011:   

Developed Stonepedia, the first app for iPhone and iPad for the stone industry

2012:   

Awarded Neolith Distributor for New England

2013:   

Created a commercial sales division, Awarded the exclusive distributor of Crystaline Stone for the North East, renovated our Westwood showroom
