Burgundy is Burning Hot on the Runway and in Home Décor

November 12, 2015

Our latest lot of Crema Bordeaux granite offers a brilliant way to bring Burgundy into the home.

Earlier this year, we told you all about Marsala, the Pantone Color of the Year for 2015. So, where is this rich wine-like shade when it comes to home color trends? Is it the big hit it was predicted to be?

Actually this fall/winter’s “it” color is a slightly evolved version of Marsala. However, it’s a color that’s familiar, warm, and a little bit spicy. The hot color for this season is burgundy. Popping up in fashion and in home furnishing collections (for both accessories and fixtures), burgundy is a gender-neutral color with universal appeal. It’s also exceptionally versatile in that it can be romantic and zesty as well as warm and welcoming.

Incorporating a bit more red than Marsala’s purple-saturated hue, burgundy offers a milder version of maroon. It’s even one of this fall’s top wedding color trends. Plus, burgundy pairs beautifully with another very popular color we’re seeing everywhere this fall—navy blue. Both of these rich colors are gorgeous in the kitchen and bath, especially as countertop materials. In fact, countertops, in general, are a great place to add a pop of unexpected color.

Our newest lot of Crema Bordeaux granite is a rich and earthy mix of brown and red that’s perfectly on trend right now. It brings a warmth and sophistication to any surface, whether it’s kitchen or bath countertops, a fireplace surround, backsplash, accent wall, or any surface in the home where you’re looking to make a statement.

Here are a few other choices for bringing burgundy into the home via surfacing that you’ll find here at Marble & Granite, Inc.

Juparana Bordeaux granite from Brazil offers a red-tinted brown look that would pair beautifully with burgundy accents.

Breccia Pontificia marble from Italy offers a rainbow of colors, one of which is typically a reddish hue that ranges in intensity from burgundy to bright red.

From Canada, Cape Breton Bordeaux marble is the shade of a fine French wine.

Another great thing about shades of burgundy is that they work for most design styles, including classic, traditional, modern, art deco, coastal, boho chic, and more. Want to experience more of this rich and full-bodied burgundy color? Visit one of our two New England area Marble & Granite, Inc. showrooms  and we’ll show you an array of natural stone and quartz materials that can help you incorporate shades of very fashionable, elegant, and powerful burgundy into your home.
