Sincerest congratulations are in order to our colleagues at Metropolitan Cabinets & Countertops. Located just down the street from us here at Marble & Granite, Inc. Metropolitan received two PRISM Awards from the Builders and Remodelers Association of Greater Boston at the organization’s recent gala. One of the awards was given to Stone Sales Specialist Bridget O’Neil for “Best Use of Interior Solid Surface Material or Stone” for this stunning kitchen design.

The PRISM Awards recognizes the finest projects and outstanding achievements of builders, developers, project owners, architects, land planners, marketing/advertising firms, interior designers, remodelers, and other professionals in the home building industry. Winning a coveted PRISM Award is a sign of excellence in the field and recognition of superior achievement.

“Our client came to us with a vision of classic, updated, and timeless without the maintenance,” explains O’Neil, noting that they selected ColorQuartz in Calacatta Novus for the very open floor plan design. “This material is 93-percent natural quartz and the rest is resin base and pigmentation. This makes it scratch, stain, and heat resistant. Plus, the color, pattern, and finish would give the client the look that they were going for without worry of everyday wear and tear.”

“Calacatta Novus was the perfect color to complement the white cabinetry along the perimeter,” explains O’Neil, noting that white is one of the hottest color trends in kitchen interiors today. The marble-inspired ColorQuartz design also provides a rich contrast to the walnut cabinetry featured on the island, as well as the floating wood shelving.

Above the cooktop, a floating shelf also made of Calacatta Novus almost disappears, blending in with natural Calcutta marble tile. O’Neil included full panels of ColorQuartz up the walls to aesthetically complete the look, with the stone veining continuing the flow.

In the bar/pantry area, ColorQuartz serves as the countertop material as well as a full-height backsplash, showing off the beautiful direction of the stone. By also including Calacatta Novus on the walnut tabletop, as well as on the living room fireplace O’Neil created a complete look of elegance with just the right amount of color contrast.
