What is the difference between the Right and Left picture of Absolute Black Granite? - The Price

Yes, the one on the right is almost 40% less expensive. Why? There are several quarries of Absolute Black in India but very few produce the deep intensive black color. The solution to meet the demand is to apply a resin with color so it matches the natural Absolute Black. Once, the resin is applied, there are many lesser quality black granites that can be used to satisfy the demand. Buyers beware. There are many types of resins so the color could yellow over time or show some cracking or who knows what. In addition, the edges need to be darkened with a lacquer and there are several types of lacquer that last longer than the others. Basically, your beautiful elegant black granite kitchen countertop will fade into a darker grey but, the original owner saved some dollars.

The best way to prevent this is to go through a reputable supplier that only buys first-quality material, which means they will not be doctored in any way.  It is important to view the slabs in person and not purchase based on price alone.

Tinting the black granites is not an innovation. Since we started 30 years ago, we had to be careful that the granite was not darkened by topical products. It was normal to apply diesel, yes fuel, to the stone and let it sit so the black was consistent and darkened. Some black granites contain oil within the stone and they have blotches that were hidden easily with a topical application.

These days, resins have advanced technologically, and they last longer, they are less susceptible to UV lightning and easier to apply. Resin application in the granite world has made a large amount of stones available in the markets. Small defects, hairline fissures, little cavities disappear once the resins are applied. A large amount of granite that was discarded became available. This is one of the reasons that granite prices have decreased over the years.

In summary, when choosing Absolute Black Granite Polished it is important that the buyer knows what she/he is buying. A drastic difference in price should be suspicious.
