What Exactly Does "Premium Grade" Mean?

How do you know you are getting the highest quality of natural stone from the distributor you choose? You can make sure that the distributor carries premium grade materials. In order to explain what "premium grade" means, we will use one of the premium grade granite stones that we carry here at Marble and Granite, New Venetian Gold, as an example.

Premium Grade New Venetian Gold

  • Only 15%-25% of the overall quarry production of New Venetian Gold is premium grade; the rest is commercial grade.

  • Premium grade blocks are hand-picked and approved by buyers in the Northern Region of Espirito Santo in Brazil.

  • The original quarry produces approximately 600-800 cubic meters per month; the three remaining quarries produce about 400-500 cubic meters.

  • The stone is thoroughly inspected for any flaws including pattern inconsistency, fissures, cracks and other imperfections that could make the layout of a job difficult.

Although premium grade stone costs more than commercial grade, fabricators can use the entire slab, producing less waste than when utilizing commercial grade stone. Most importantly, however, with premium grade stone, both the fabricator and the homeowner can feel confident that they are receiving the highest quality of natural stone.

Come see what our New Venetian Gold Premium Granite looks like in person at one of the Marble and Granite showrooms located at 125 Old Gate Lane in Milford, Connecticut or at 270 University Avenue in Westwood, Massachusetts.
